Degner

Update - updated

Clearer qualifying, cleaner timing

Hi everyone,

Over the past two weeks, we've been making Degner easier to follow, from the final laps of qualifying to a quick glance on your phone. This update brings a clearer qualifying view, a more useful session header, and cleaner timing across desktop and mobile.

⏱️ Follow the fight to stay in qualifying

The yellow qualifying elimination line now tells you more about the fight: it shows the cutoff driver and time, the first driver outside, and the margin between them.

When the cutoff changes, a TARGET MOVED alert tells you there's a new time to beat. And it is now aware of laps still ongoing after the checkered flag: it keeps following eligible attempts still in progress, then confirms who goes through once the cut is decided.

In addition to the cutoff line, there's a new flag marker on the timing board beside each driver's last lap time that also shows who has taken the chequered flag, similarly to the broadcast.

🕵️ See what matters at a glance

The F1 session header (the strip at the top) now brings together useful information for the session you're watching:

  • Practice: how many cars are on track, which compounds they're running, and who has completed the most laps.
  • Qualifying: the cutoff and threats to it, or challenges to provisional pole in the final segment.
  • Race: lap progress, a close battle away from the leading pair, and the oldest tyres still running.

The summary adapts to the space available, keeping the main information visible on your phone too. It gives you a quick way to spot activity that might otherwise mean scanning the whole board.

📱 A cleaner view, especially on your phone

We've spent some time tidying up the timing view, with the biggest difference on mobile. Driver cards now have more consistent alignment, clearer markers and colors. The cards and header take up less space, so you can see more of the field while keeping the information easier to read.

Desktop timing also fits more cars on screen, with tighter rows. Alongside the visual changes, performance improvements help keep the board more responsive during playback. Soon, we are planning to introduce customization options for the timing board size and spacing.

🐙 Additional small customization options

Settings now has a Display section where you can choose metric or imperial units for speed, wind and temperature, show message times in track or local time, and pick an automatic, 24-hour or 12-hour clock. These preferences sync across devices when you're signed in.

The Schedule opens at the current month, shows its time zone. Use the series chips to quickly filter the list. To permanently and completely hide a series, sign in and use Settings > Display. Currently we support Formula 1 and Super Formula, with more to come over the winter break.

🐁 A few smaller improvements

  • Race Chart, Race Pace and Stint Timeline can now show only your focused drivers, making a smaller group easier to compare.
  • A new compare button (CMP) in Close Running allows you to quickly open a pair of drivers in Telemetry from the timing board.
  • Reloading, sharing and using the browser Back button preserve your recorded session and selected tab.
  • Close Running groups appear immediately after seeking, including while paused.
  • Bug fix: Qualifying no longer advances to the next segment when the current segment resumes after a red flag.

Open Degner to try these changes. If you spot a problem or have an idea for something you'd like to see, use the feedback link in Help to let us know.

Thanks for using Degner.
